A Celebration of Art in the Communities of the Mad River Valley
August 1-31, 2008

The entire month of August is Art at the Vermont Festival of the Arts! We entertain the soul, enlighten the mind & energize the spirit, with 125+ exhibits, workshops & demos by a variety of Vermont artists. From the summit of Sugarbush Resort to the Mad River Valley, the festival has about 50 events for kids, 50 events that are free & 50 venues.

That adds up to plenty of ways to craft your way through Art in August at one of the premier Vermont Festivals.

While the visual and performance arts are the core of the Vermont Festival of the Arts, there are workshops, garden/house tours, kids’ activities, community celebrations, culinary classes, literary excursions and musical masterpieces that happen every day all month long.

The Artful Lodger: Some of our lodging establishments banded together to put some loose change back in your pockets, with discounts & packages for the Festival.

Our History

In 1997, a small group of Mad River Valley community members joined together with the goal of establishing a vibrant summer arts event, highlighting the many Vermont artists who live and work here in the Mad River Valley and throughout the Green Mountain State of Vermont. It provides our residents and visitors with opportunities to experience, explore and participate in the making of art.

Brought to you by the artists, residents and businesses of Vermont and the
Mad River Valley.
